I was thinking about changing my bait. Right now i use a couple of different things depening on my set and location. I use canned tuna, marshmellows, fishing luer sent in crawdad sent and fruit. I have had to most success on tuna. But i was thinking if i changed my bait i might improve my success rate. I was thinking sardiens but i need something that wont freeze.

I re-set all of my traps and this time i took sticks and built up walls funneling the animal right into the trap so that they cant go around it and have to go stright to the trap. My mom got a phone call from an old friend of my dads today and he asked how i was doing and my mom told him that i had been trapping alot and he said that he used to trap alot when he was a kid-makelike $1500.00 a winter and he said that he would be more than happy to give me the $5,000 worth of traps that he had sitting in his parents barn and said that he would show me as much as he knows. I am very excited to finally be able to get hands on training from an expirenced trapper rather than just what i can read on the net!

I have gone three weeks with out any coons. My bait keeps getting taken but my traps havent ben touched. I have use pocket sets on the river bank with a number 1/2 coil spring i have been trying all kinds of different baits. but have had the most bait taken with vieanna sausages with pepermint oil injected in them. I dig my hole about 8-10 inches back up in the bank and bury my trap in front and cover it with leaves. Any tips you guys might have will be a ton of help. and this is also a post for people to post there trapping problems and hopefully get some help

Hello everyone i am new to trapping and every thing i know i have learned through trial and error i have been trapping for about 2 months now and have cought a beaver with a snare and a coon with a foothold. I have been reading your post and have alreadyl earned alot. But i do have one request, I was hoping that you guys might be able to take more pictures of your sets so i could learn from some experienced trappers since there none that i know of in my area. Like i said before i am new to trapping but i have the feaver and enjoy the thrills as well as dissapointments of running a trap line. Any special tips or tricks to help a young kid new to the sport would be greatly appreacited.
Thank you, Trapnstud

Saturday i ran my traps and thought that that i had lost a trap due to a coon chewing threw the wire i had it tied off with. Today i was walking through the woods and i seen a skunk with my trap around his foot. He was trying to get back in his den but the trap was restrickting his movement. He then sprayed me and my dog but i managed to get this picture before he unleashed his deadly butt juices on me and shaggy.

His "STUNT" was when he made that post saying that he had read in wisconson's game and fish magizine or something that galen had been arrested for illegal possession of furs and he said that it wasn't his first affence. When i read i it i instantly thought that it couldnt be true. Sry for the imbarrasment that that would put you through Galen

Paul i owe you great thanks. Even though your tips havent cought me a coon i am learning many things every time i talk to you. i will go to traps for kids but i think i got it figured out. I will go see in the morning i put more cover in the hole over the bait this time cuz when i checked it before school all the cover i had used was laying next to the hole. every time i dont catch one i leatn something new. I will get him eventually and thanks agina paul and everone else for all the advise this site has helped me an unbelivable amount.
Thank you, -trapnstud-
