Hey CrowHillTrapper !
Yeah, water trapping is a whole other game.
You do much land trapping for mink?
If so what are your favorite sets. if you don't mind telling, that is.

Check your IM, I sent you a personal message.
I have an old draw knife that I have used for years. I guess it's what you get used to and what works for you.
The front leg area can be hard to flesh if you aren't careful. Gotta be a little slower around there until you get the hang of it.
I had that with rats esp when I got in to an area that wasn't trapped for awhile and most the 'rats were big old ones. They really tear each other up during breeding season so if they are lucky to live for awhile they do get scarred up a lot.
A triple then a double. you must be doing something right! Glad to hear it.
I do agree about the 'possums. I never had a problem that way.
Good luck and post some pictures if you can. Paul

'Puters are great as long as they are working.
Sounds like you are getting quite a work out. That's a good number of traps to run. Real pain to have somebody "help" you check 'em like that! I'd sure like to catch the guy!!
How's your fur looking? They primed up or still some blue? The thing with the screen is O.K. but what I used was "hardware cloth" you know the heavier metal squares. I liked the fact they let in more air.
Hey jk, nothing wrong with sittin' and waiting for them to come to you. I don't still hunt much anymore and as for deer drives forget it. I hunt mostly alone. Nothing wrong with it esp for an "ol' timer' like me. ;D
Not gonna make it putting out sets this year but things should be back right with my health by next season.
Meantime I appreciate living thru you and the other posts on the forums. Thanks for that.
Best to you and your's. Paul

Was that in the Seacaucus swamp?
I know guys that made a living trapping it in the 1950's. I mean these guys would get thousands of 'rats!!
It was famous for the "Jersey Black 'Rat". Man the fur was soooo dark on those buggers!!!
I don't blame you about not wanting to go back there. I moved to central NYS about 25 yrs ago from North Jersey. It was the same year the last dairy farm went under in my home county. I told my wife if the farmers are gone so am I. And we went.
Glad you like the trapping in PA. esp the fox and 'yotes. They are my favorites.
You have a lot of mink where you are at?
I always liked the old Blake & Lamb #1 DLS in water sets for them.
What do you use?
Keep me posted will you as I haven't been able to trap the last couple years due to some health problems and I am living thru these trapping forums. I am planning on and will be healthy enough to be able to run a small line next season tho. Should work out fine.
Keep in touch will ya?
Paul

1000 coon season!!!!! WOW!!!!
Where you from and you must be doing it full time.
What type sets you use mostly? Traps?

Yea mink are fun. Something mystical about them in my mind anyway. They are sneaky and sly but in a diferent way than a fox.
