Good questions Steve.
It appers to me that the snares along with the continued use of the 220's would be a good thing.
I, for one, would like to see snaring for coyotes legal.
If anyone knows anything to enlighten us please post.

Nice dog Tim!!
I only had one bluetick in my life. I always ran redbones.
I agree about missing running the woods with them.
Nothing like the excitment and the fun of listening to a few hounds on a track or at a tree!

Personally I would upgrade to the #3's. With the baseplating it should be fine IMO.
Someone else may have a different opinion tho.

That is a real pain Tim! Been down that road many times just trying to keep a vehicle running. Today it was working outside in the high winds and snow, zero and below wind chill, trying to get the darn snowblower working!! Am only getting drive to one wheel and it's a real pain going up my steep driveway with it. Gotta keep pulling to the left all the time. I'm getting too old for this cr*p!!!

The beam should be contoured to fit the curve of the fleshing knife. A power sander does the job. I rough shape with a drawknife then sand smooth. Steve when doing coons you want a good knife to get that grizzly area up on the back of the neck. The best is a two sided knife with one side quite sharp and the other less so. Convex side sharp concave less so. Takes a few times to get the "feel" and not tear the hide.

Great Tim!
I have always pushed and am so use to it after all this time but I'd like to give the other way a try sometime. They say it's a lot easier on your back and that would be a good thing.

Yeah Tim putting up fur is a big part of trapping and one that I am always looking for a better way to do something at.
How did the fleshing beam that you got from Joe work out?
Is it set up that you push the knife or did you try to make it into a pull system?

I'll check it out. I know how you feel about having to replace traps. Shoot I have about the same amount and a lot of them are from when I got them new in the 50's and up to the late seventies or so. A bunch of Montgomery's I swear by that I hope aren't on that list!!!!! Talk to you later AK and thanks for the info. Paul

I agree with you all the way on this.
All I have been doing about it is trying to reason/convince anyone who will listen about the problems with it.
I also agree with you it should be a major concern of the NTA and all trappers.
The blackmail/extorsion the EU is submitting us to is disgusting.
It reminds me of CITES and the ginseng regs that states had to get in order to be able to sell it. That is a prime example of federal being forced upon states rights.
