www.taxidermyvideos.com/opmocorugmo.html This link is from a taxidermist who makes videos on mounting most animals, everything from coyotes to fish to birds. They have full mounts, rugs, and head mounts. I got to thinking there might be some trappers who have never learned how to take care of the head and feet of an pelt. I had never heard of it until moving to Alaska where it is common practice. There two videos that show how to do eyes, nose, ears, lips, and feet. On one they show how to do a coyote rug, the other they show how to do a full mount mountain lion. The detail isn't the greatest but if you watch close you Will be able to pick it up OK. I can say from experience if a pelt is done with taxidermist quality in mind it will bring more at auction and the extra time is well spent. Who knows it may turn into a money making hobby. The cost of the DVDs and VHS tapes are fairly reasonable, well worth the investment.

Seems strange trappers not handling their own fur. Back in the '60's when I was learning to trap the old fellow who taught me if I wanted him to teach me the first thing I had to do was to learn to skin and flesh out fur. One winter after school I would stop by the local domino parlor, Charley's hang out. I spent many evening skinning 'coons and coyotes. To me it just seems the natural thing.

I usually use snares under the ice, if i have to use a foothold I use either 4# Newhouses or 750 Eliminators. The Newhouses have been modified; 6"chain swiveled in the center of the cross with a drowner at the other end.. Good Luck!

I just placed a link with a list of EU "approved" traps over on T-Man you should look at it I don't own a single one, if this nonsense go through I would have to replace something to the tune of 300 traps, some are old Newhouse and Triumphs that were given to me by by the old man who taught me how to trap. BMP is getting to be my soapbox lately, the more I research it the more it scares me. If you go into some of the UE sites and read what these people want and I believe will get in the end it spooky. At the risk of making someone mad. I believe the NTA should fighting not appeasing. I don't know what else I can do most trappers are either neutral or for BMP. I can't convince them the bunny huggers in the EU want their traps every bit as much as Sarah Brady wants their guns. Alaska HOMESTEADING Journal

Wolverine. They are easy to catch, if you get one working your line your going to get him, the hard part is keeping in the trap. They flop and twist around like a salmon out of water and can destroy a trap. Alot of folks who don't know better will tell you if you get on your line they will destroy everything in sight. I've lost more fur to voles and mice.
